Joy Gohring's Biography

Joy is the daughter of a former Catholic nun and Catholic monk (yes, it's true). She was raised in Austin, TX and currently lives in Hollywood where she works in TV & Film and frequently jets off to far away places to perform stand-up.

Joy's career in show business began on the heels of a "Without Pants" performance – that is, a live comedy show she co-wrote with Winnipeg comic Johanna Stein. The show was chosen from over 2,000 acts to showcase at HBO's prestigious U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. There she was approached by Carsey-Werner-Mandabach (creators of "That 70's Show") to create and star in her own TV series and after several pilots, landed the lead role of "Jane" in Oxygen's "Good Girls Don't…"

Since then, Joy continues to perform in various film and TV shows (see that bio). She is well known for being a huge supporter of women in the industry and is currently collaborating with writer Andrea Abbate (EP, Showtime's "Rude Awakening") and actress Bree Turner ("Just My Luck", Joy's co-star on "Good Girls Don't…") on a play called "Random Acts of Kindness" – debuting August 2007.

Joy also writes and develops original scripts for stage & TV, punches up film scripts and is currently creating an online TV series to be released at the end of the summer.
